How i came about owning Kilsworth Capers now renamed as Gemin's Gem,

It all happened in Covid lockdown 2021 I went to my local Supermarket on my pedal bike to get some bits and pieces, while cycling i was nipping up and down side roads then stumbled across a sad neglected Caraboat sitting under a tree, I Knew what it was and knocked on the owners door and asked the owner if he would sell it he turned round and told me No he was going to restore it so i thanked him for his time and cycled home

A couple of weeks ago I met a chap who used to own a Caravan Dealership just outside of Preston called Madisons, he told me they had sold a couple of Caraboats in 1973 when they were new, and when the Dealership opened they got Charlie Chester to open it and he still had some pictures from that time mainly publicity shots.

he kindly let me have them and I was interested to see one of the Caraboat using the original jet drive..

Caraboat 1970 to 1973

The Caraboat is a remarkable amphibious caravan that functions as both a road-towable caravan and a self-propelled boat, making it perfect for versatile travel on both land and water. This innovative vehicle, created by Tom Carr in Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom, measures 16 feet in length and includes an internal chassis protected from the elements. With external suspension and brakes specifically designed for towing, the Caraboat is an ideal choice for enthusiasts of boat rental and marina services. The Classic Caraboat, particularly the Caraboat 1973 model, is highly sought after, and many are now undergoing Caraboat restoration to preserve their unique legacy.
